Ambala, May 26
This evening, some people, led by social worker Parul Nagpal of the city, gathered at a petrol pump in Prem Nagar Ambala city and protested against the daily increase in the prices of petrol and diesel by wearing masks of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. They also sarcastically distributed Melody toffees to the people passing by on the road.
A protester said that the problem will not be solved by riding a bicycle for two days. The rising oil prices due to the skyrocketing inflation will have to be curbed; otherwise the public will teach a lesson. He said that the government had given the public a lollipop to win the elections and as soon as the elections are over, the government is increasing the oil prices every day.
Parul Nagpal said that the government will increase the oil prices further. 12 years ago, BJP used to say that petrol prices would be reduced from Rs 70 to Rs 35 when it comes to power, but today it has become Rs 103 per liter. Even after such a high price, the government is sitting silent and is distributing Melody toffees abroad. The people of the country have no idea. With the increase in oil prices, fares are increasing, the price of plastic is increasing, the price of drinking water bottles is increasing; if the government does not control this, and then there will be a big problem in the coming days. Parul Nagpal said that the problem will not be solved by not travelling in vehicles, the government will have to listen to the common people, but the government has somehow just raised its hands.
