National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra Celebrates Tribal Pride Year on the 150th Birth Anniversary of Dharti Aba Bhagwan Birsa Munda

National Institute of Technology (NIT) Kurukshetra celebrated the Tribal Pride Year on October 24, 2025, to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Dharti Aba Bhagwan Birsa Munda. The event is part of the year-long celebrations at the institute from November 15, 2024, to November 15, 2025, in which a number of creative and cultural activities are being organized to honor the life, thoughts, and contributions of this great leader and freedom fighter.

The event was coordinated by Dr. Chandrashekhar M, Dr. Ravi Pratap Singh and Lieutenant Shahabuddin.

Prof. V.P. Singh, Dean (Estate and Construction), NIT Kurukshetra, was the chief guest. The program began with a floral tribute to Bhagwan Birsa Munda. This was followed by an inspiring address by the Chief Guest, who highlighted Birsa Munda’s significant contribution to India’s freedom struggle and his tireless efforts for the rights and upliftment of tribal communities. His address conveyed the message of embracing the values ​​of justice, courage, and patriotism that Lord Birsa Munda lived by.

The program included various competitions, including painting, singing, drawing, and short story writing, based on the life, ideals, and struggles of Lord Birsa Munda. Participants showcased their creative and literary talents, vividly portraying his courage, struggle, and dedication to social justice. The winners of these competitions will be announced and felicitated at the closing ceremony of the year-long event on November 15, 2025.

Through these activities, the Institute not only celebrated the patriotism, vision, and sacrifice of Lord Birsa Munda, but also underscored his eternal message of empowerment and equality for tribal communities.

The Tribal Pride Year Celebrations held at NIT Kurukshetra were a true tribute to Bhagwan Birsa Munda, reaffirming the Institute’s commitment that preservation and promotion of India’s rich tribal heritage is essential for the identity and progress of the nation.
