Union Defense Minister Shri Rajnath Ji has given his approval for the inauguration of Ambala Cantonment Airport – Shri Anil Vij

Flights from Ambala to Ayodhya, Lucknow, and Jammu and to Srinagar will start at the initial stage

Haryana’s Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Shri Anil Vij said that Union Defense Minister Shri Rajnath Ji has given his approval for the inauguration of Ambala Cantonment Airport. The airport will be inaugurated as soon as the date of inauguration is decided.  He informed that flights from Ambala to Ayodhya, Lucknow, Jammu and Srinagar will start at the initial stage.

Mr. Vij was answering questions of media persons here in Chandigarh today.

Mr. Vij said that “Ambala Cantonment Airport has been built with the grace of Union Defense Minister Mr. Rajnath ji because Army’s land was required for the construction of this airport and this land was provided by the Union Defense Minister. Therefore, I had requested the Union Defense Minister to inaugurate this airport”. A program is being prepared to inaugurate the Ambala Airport around 15th August. In this regard, correspondence has been done to the Chief Minister of Haryana and the Union Defense Minister so that the same date can be fixed from both sides because the presence of both is necessary in this program. As soon as the date is agreed upon the airport will be inaugurated on that date and flights will begin.

He said that officers and employees of civil aviation have also been deployed at this airport and it is almost ready. Mr. Vij said that Ambala Cantonment is an important station has direct connectivity with other places in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana. Moreover Ambala has science industry and direct connection wit metal industry of Jagadhari, Panipat so this is going to be a very successful airport.

Mr. VI said that he has also received a letter from the Union Civil Aviation Minister that three airlines have been approved from here. Apart from this, other airlines are also seeking approval to fly from Ambala Cantonment. According to the letter of the Union Aviation Minister, flights will be started from Ambala to Ayodhya, Ambala to Lucknow, Ambala to Jammu and Ambala to Srinagar.

In response to a question regarding starting cargo service from Ambala Cantonment Airport, Mr. Vij said that he has written a letter to Union Minister Mr. Manohar Lal ji that the traders and delegations here are demanding that cargo airlines should also be started from Ambala Cantonment because the biggest aircraft can land on the airstrip of Ambala Cantonment. Therefore, cargo airlines should be started from here. Apart from this this airport will serve to send products of science industry Ambala, Saha’s industry, Ambala’s cloth market, and apples of Himachal Pradesh etc. The cargo proceedings are at the initial stage.
