Maj Gen Jagdeep Singh Cheema, Additional Director General, NCC Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh (PHHP&C) while delivering his keynote address at Panjab University, emphasized on the vital role of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) in empowering youth.
Maj Gen Cheema shared the organization’s vision of fostering leadership, discipline, and national pride among cadets. With a strength of over 14 lakh cadets, NCC is the world’s largest uniformed youth organization.
The ADG highlighted the success stories of illustrious alumni like Capt. Vikram Batra, PVC, and shared inspiring achievements of current cadets, including those preparing to climb Mount Everest. He encouraged students to join NCC, emphasizing the career opportunities it provides, especially in the armed forces, sports, and public service, along with the development of essential life skills.
Maj Gen Cheema encouraged the students to contribute to the nation’s future through NCC as the organization’s impact on youth development is multifaceted, promoting holistic development through various activities such as drill, trekking, and adventure sports.
He further said that the NCC provides opportunities for young people to develop leadership skills, teamwork, and communication skills, essential for their personal and social growth. By joining NCC, students can be part of a prestigious organization that has been instrumental in shaping the lives of millions of youth, he added.
